"Are stem cell for real?" The theory on Potential Regenerative Cell raises the resonance of specialists worldwide

On 2003/1/15-16, “Asia Pacific Stem Cells and Cloning” conference was held in Singapore. A lot of scientists and researchers from Asia, such as China, India, Korea, Japan, Singapore, etc. attended this conference, this meeting also gathered doctors, professors, CEOs from academics or companies of US, Australia, Europe and so on.
Admired by Prof. Xu Rongxiang’s contribution in burn therapy and stem cell research, the conference committee invited Prof. Xu to be a key speaker in this conference for several times, but unfortunately it conflicted with another meeting of Prof. Xu. On behalf of Prof. Xu and MEBO International Group, I participated the conference and gave an important lecture.

The two days meeting was very strenuous and meaningful: Some scientists introduced the new progresses in their group in the field of ESC research or HSC research; some officers and professors reported the overall development of stem cell and cloning in Japan, India, Malaysia and so on. There were also the discussions about the ethic problems raising by stem cells, especially embryonic stem cells, IP and patents application, the foreground and the risk of investment.

On behalf of Prof. Xu, I presented our study on “Tissue organ regeneration in Situ & in vitro” and its successful clinical application, especially for burn therapy. The lecture mainly includes four aspects: 1) the detection, initiation, proliferation, regeneration of Potential Regenerative Cells (PRCs); 2) The establishment of models on tissue organ regeneration in vitro; 3) The clinical practice of tissue organ regeneration and replication in Situ——Burn Therapy with derma regeneration in Situ; 4) Several tissue organ regeneration and replications in Situ and/or in vitro. In this conference, for the first time, we opened to the public the detailed procedures and key points of “Tissue organ regeneration in Situ”; the major differences between PRCs and so called SC (Stem Cells) and also other important and sensitive points. The 45 minutes’ presentation attracted all attendees, they were pretty much impressed by MEBO. The talk ended in the continuous voices of “Amazing!”, “So impressive!”…… Then the question part started immediately.

The Chairman of the conference, Dr. Doros Platica, who is the President and CEO of Centagenetix said: “Thank you very much for your amazing presentation, I am so impressed, now I have a question: Is MEBO in FDA trail for a formal new drug?”

“Thank you. Yes, as I mentioned in the presentation, our MEBO (Moist Exposed Burn Ointment) has entered US FDA as a formal drug. American burn patients will benefit from it once it passes.”

The eye specialist from India——D.Balasubramanian said, “Your presentation is very impressive, you have made great success and contribution in burn therapy, I have two questions now: 1) for the existing old scar, not the new one, do you have a way to cure or improve the appearance? 2) I am very interested in your product of hair follicle regeneration, it’s very amazing, I want to try your product, would you please help me?”

“Thank you. For the existing scar, we have the follow-up product——MEBOò Scareducer, which can greatly improve the old scar in some extent, the result will also depend on the size of the scar, the duration of scar, the age of the patients and other complications. For the second question, as long as you tell me your contact information, it’s our great pleasure to help you.”

Dr. Moore from Singapore National Cancer Center asked：“Thank you for your nice presentation, I am very impressed by your clinical skin cancer treatment, recently more and more reports reveal that cancer cell has a lot of similar characters with stem cell, what’s your opinion about this?

“Yes, for some points, cancer cell is the uncontrollable stem cell with continuous proliferation. With our technique, in some skin cancer cases, we could transform cancer cell to normal cell with our product and treatment, the “cancer cells” stop proliferating out of order and were changed back to normal cell, after a while, the skin healed and the cancer disappeared.”

One professor from Japan said, “Your work is very amazing, very nice presentation. Now my question is: do your product——MEBO for burn treatment has any side effects?”

“Thank you. Our MEBO is complex of extracts from eatable plants and food, it’s really safe, no side effect has been noticed so far.”

In addition, there were questions about the liquefaction，systemic treatment，diabetes and etc. Obviously, everyone has been captivated by MEBO. The Chairman had to suspend the next talk to let me finish answering the questions.

Later in the meeting, Miss Koitabashi and Prof. Norio Nakatsuji reported to the attendees about the stem cell research in Japan. The director of Indian L.V.Prasad Eye Institute, Dr. D.Balasubramanian talked about their clinical treatment for eye diseases with stem cell: first, they cultured limbal stem cells in vitro, then they put them onto a special membrane, last, they covered this membrane together with stem cells onto patients’ eyes to treat some disease to restore their sight. They got some initial progress in this field. Prof. Aw Tar Choon from National University of Singapore gave us a nice review about worldwide stem cell research and cloning based on his information collections from journals like Science, Nature and news report like The Straits Times, BBC news and etc. Indian lawyer Suresh Chandran introduced about the IP questions for stem cell research; the representative of the famous bio-tech company ——Viacell talked about their studies and initial clinic practice about “umbilical cord blood stem cell”. The chairman of the conference, Dr. Doros Platica, introduced his company Centagenetix trying to work on the gene and cellular study about the healthy old folks in order to improve our health and longevity.

Studies on stem cell, especially embryonic stem cell, aroused a lot of debates and censure from the very beginning. The ethic and moral problems coming together with ESC research couldn’t be completely accepted by the public. Dr. Nitin Naik from “Frost & Sullivan Asia Placific” gave us a lecture titled “Are Stem Cells for Real? : Unfolding the New Bio-molecular Saga”, he summarized the government support grades，the law problems and the acceptance extent of stem cell research in US, German, England, Australia, China, Japan and India, etc. He ended up his talk as concluded: “For the public, stem cell research is still very confusing, people don’t know where stem cell will lead us to, or maybe it’s going to be nowhere like gene therapy.”

In this conference, I, representing Prof. Xu Rongxiang, was selected to be the panel chairman together with Dr. Doros Platica, Dr. D. Balasuramanian and Prof. Lu. We talked about the big news about Canada scientists claimed that the first cloning human being was born recently; if it’s right to use embryonic stem cell or fetus stem cell to do the research or clinical application and other related questions. Prof. Xu Rongxiang was invited to lead the panel, not only means he is very famous in this field and the deference for him from the conference communitee; but also shows that MEBO is in the highest flight and is very important to let the attendees hear his opinion. In the panel, I further talked our standpoints of these questions and our theory of “Acclimation Nature Law to deal with our health problems”. In addition, I emphasized the feasibility and big valuable foreground of realizing this goal. Our theory and study about “Tissue organ regeneration in Situ” is not the same as “Cloning human being”, and also stays far away from the ethic and moral problems with ESC, the key advantage is that our study is based on the life connection and has already got big clinical successes for 15 years.

Like each time in every conference, during the conference, almost everyone came to me and asked their interesting questions about PRCs, MEBO, Prof. Xu; a lot of people told me that they wanted to collaborate with us and some people would like to be our product representatives if it was possible.

Prof. Shin Yong Moon from Korean Seoul National University College of Medicine told me, “I finally got the chance to talk with you, your talk of MEBO is very amazing and impressive, I want to invite you or Prof. Xu, if it’s possible, to our hospital to give a lecture or teach our doctors in my hospital. That’s a national hospital with 4500 well trained doctors, we mainly treat female diseases, it will be great to have you or even Xu to go to our hospital.”

“Thank you. Our products and the real results would be more impressive once you use it. It’s our pleasure to have chance to communicate with scientists and doctors of Korea, as long as you send me the detailed information, I will talk with Prof. Xu and arrange the schedule.”

The chief scientist of Australian bio-tech company “Verigen Transplantation Service International Aktiengesellsgrafting” told me, “I totally agree with your theory about Potential Regenerative Cells (PRCs). So far, stem cell research is very hot all over the world, but there are some inevitable problems, the major one is the possibility of cancer induce. No one can prove or assure that the transplanted stem cell won’t change to cancer cell or won’t induce cancer for ever. The oldest artificial fertilization baby is only more than 20 year old now, how about their future fate, if they will develop some gusty disease, no one is capable to tell. However, on the other hand, PRCs——the cells existing cells in our human body themselves, no matter what we call them, they suposed to be more downstream, more reliable and more clinical applicable technique in the near future. We also found some special cells in our studies, we only call them ‘special cells’ so far. I really hope we can have chance to collaborate either in research or clinical application.”

“Yes, I am happy to hear that your idea and understanding is pretty much the same with ours, under this point, I believe we will have good collaboration together.”

Dr. Soon-Keng Cheong from MAKNA-HUKM Cancer Institute also invited me with great kindness to go to Malaysia for lectures representing MEBO International Group, I accepted agreeably.

The conference finished soon, again for another time, MEBO deeply touched the specialists and scientists with its predominant product effect and the pioneer scientific research level. I saw a lot of speakers after me all mentioned our “PRCs”, obviously, the “Study on tissue organ regeneration in Situ” and the theory about “PRCs” is beginning to be accepted by scientists and they started to take delight in talking about it and begin the adduction.

The history of Moist Exposed Burn Ointment is more than 15 years now, it’s already saved thousands of burn patients worldwide; meanwhile, the burn theory has been changed revolutionarily by it, Prof. Xu also becomes the legend character in people’s eyes. If this is the footstone and most important first step on MEBO, now along with the rise and being acceptance of the theory and study of “PRCs” and “tissue organ regeneration in Situ”, not only the second spring of MEBO will come, but also it will change the world modern medicine and people’s ideal of health guarantee and longevity.
