China Scientist in Life Science Acquires America Patent of Using Body Cells Cloning Tissue Organs

When life scientists are arguing about the ethics of stem cells research, Prof. Xu Rongxiang, the Chinese life scientist and his group has finished using adult tissue cells cloning tissue organs in vitro and in vivo, realized in situ cloning skin organ, stomach and intestine and recovered injured organs physiologically.  The series of successful technique has acquired several patents.  The Chinese life scientist acquiring patent of using body cells cloning organs not only indicates the Chinese life science research has statutory leading position and patent protection for 21 years, but the series of patented technique develop new field of life science research, which pushes the research in cells and medicine a great forward.  


At present, it is imagined that using stem cells to clone tissues and organs, and then to repair injured tissues to treat disease via transplanting organs.  However, stem cells only can be acquired from human embryo.  Therefore, the embryo is destroyed when stem cells are obtained.  It violates the human ethics, so this wonderful imagination is in the state of stasis.   Prof. Xu uses his technique to transform body cells directly into cells which have the same function with stem cells, realize cloning organs and regenerating tissue organs in situ to recovery injured organs physiologically.  The series technique of using body cells to clone organs realize regenerating human organs in situ which greatly surpass target imagined about embryonic stem cells.  It is not only a new field of life science, but a successful applicable technique to prevent and treat organs injured diseases of human and a new hope of health and longevity. 


Prof. Xu spent 20 years in the research of using body cells to clone tissue organs.  The reproducible histological changes of skin organ were first found on burned wounds and were published in the China-America international Burns Meeting.  Due to the international cytological technical limit, the reproducible cytological changes of skin organ were found in 1988.  It is until 1994 that skin primitive embryonic stem cells ( K-19 skin stem cell ) were cultured on burned wounds.  With the development of series of clinical technique, skin organ of a deep burned patient large area was all regenerated in situ.  The technique is called as Burns Regenerative Medicine and published by Karger publishing company.  It is the first monograph of regenerative medicine and is published all over the world.  The burned skin regeneration technique has been spread by the National Health Ministry for many years and has been one of ten national routine techniques till now.  Prof. Xu collected data about cloning skin in situ, summarized a procedure for human organ regenerating in situ and began the research in regenerating human stomach and intestine.  By 2001, several tens of tissue organ reproduce have been finished and applied patent protection for core technique of realizing human organ regenerating in situ in America.  One year later, a conference was held to issue the news and then it became the most popular news in China at that time.  By far, Prof. Xu led his research team to continue utilizing this technique to finish regenerating human main organs in situ. 


The series of techniques are awarded patent proving the Chinese creative scientific contribution and confirm that the application research of using cell cloning organs has been the most advanced all over the world.
