Rebirth in the Desert: MEBO Group and Soňa Kopčoková Conquer the Ultra Gobi 400 km – Turning Scars into Strength
At 9:30 p.m. on October 3, 2025, the vast wilderness of Guazhou, Gansu—along the ancient Silk Road—witnessed the start of Ultra Gobi 400 km, China’s first nonstop, self-navigated ultramarathon across the desert. Supported by MEBO Group, Slovak ultrarunner Soňa Kopčoková completed the grueling race in 118 hours, 56 minutes, and 21 seconds, carving a testament of endurance across the “Road of Death” once chronicled by the monk Xuanzang.

A world fitness champion and ultramarathon record-holder, Soňa is also the mother of three adopted children. Her journey was not driven by personal glory but by a message to her children—“Even scarred, we move forward.” Despite a serious ankle injury early in 2025, she saw this race as a test of life’s limits. On the third day, her old injury flared amid cold winds and shifting sand, but her GPS signal never stopped. “Even if I have to crawl,” she said afterward, “I will reach the finish line.”

The race retraces history: 80% of the route lies in uninhabited desert, passing ancient Silk Road sites like Suoyang City and Xuanquan Post, confronting violent winds, harsh dryness, and 30°C temperature swings.

MEBO Group’s support reflects its belief in the power of regeneration—that the value of life lies not in avoiding damage but in unlocking recovery potential. Soňa’s triumph, achieved through pain and perseverance, perfectly embodies this philosophy.
Together, MEBO and Soňa completed not just a race, but a profound journey of resilience—proving that courage and regeneration know no limits.
