Gyeongju, South Korea, the official host city of the 2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit, is set to welcome a series of landmark events this autumn. Among them, the highly anticipated Silicon Valley Meets APEC 2025 Forum will take place on October 16, 2025, at the K Hotel Gyeongju, an officially designated APEC partner hotel. Co-hosted by the Bay Area Council and MEBO Group, this flagship side event is officially recognized by APEC and continues the tradition of deep collaboration between Silicon Valley and APEC economies launched during the 2023 San Francisco meeting, bringing digital innovation and policy synergy to the Asia-Pacific region.

A unique feature of the Silicon Valley Meets APEC 2025 Forum is its role as part of a year-long, idea-driven series rather than a single event. A key milestone was the 2025 Bay Area–Silicon Valley Summit, hosted by Sart Health in May, which convened over 300 leaders from government, business, academia, and non-profit sectors, demonstrating multi-stakeholder collaboration. In July, the Bay Area Council held a series of pre-forum discussions on AI policy, strategy, and regulation, gathering top experts and policymakers from Silicon Valley and around the globe. Insights from these discussions will be formally released at the forum in a special report titled Innovation and the Regulation of Artificial Intelligence: a Silicon Valley Perspective, ensuring policy recommendations fully reflect diverse perspectives and expertise.

The 2025 forum theme is “AI Influence · Shaping the Future”, with a focus on global AI governance and the integration of digital technologies in healthcare innovation.

Forum Highlights Include:

Opening Remarks:

Kevin Xu, Executive Committee Member of the Bay Area Council and former Co-Chair of the APEC Host Committee, and Seong Woo Lee, Vice President of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), will deliver addresses, emphasizing the forum’s role in aligning the Silicon Valley economic ecosystem with APEC economies to foster scalable, sustainable collaboration.

Key Contributions:

Angelo Farooq, Member of the California State Workforce Development Board, will outline Silicon Valley’s core contributions to AI research and talent development.

Sean Randolph, Senior Director of the Bay Area Council Economic Institute, will present the special report Innovation and the Regulation of Artificial Intelligence: a Silicon Valley Perspective, offering globally informed recommendations for AI governance.

John Hering, Director of Cybersecurity Policy and Diplomacy at Microsoft, will deliver a keynote speech on APEC’s role in shaping global AI regulatory frameworks.

Panel Discussion:

Healthcare Industry × Digital Technology: Building a New Global Health Ecosystem will feature representatives from MEBO Group, Deloitte Consulting, and Korea Donghwa Pharm, discussing AI applications in healthcare and industry integration models.

The Silicon Valley Meets APEC 2025 Forum began in 2023 aboard the historic Klamath ship during APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in San Francisco, attracting tech giants such as Microsoft and MEBO Group, along with senior representatives of APEC economies. In 2024, the APEC 2024 Silicon Valley Summit in Lima, Peru, further strengthened this collaboration under the “APEC for the People” framework, focusing on sustainability, inclusivity, and connecting Silicon Valley’s technological resources with APEC policy goals.

Over three years, the forum has evolved into a vital bridge linking Silicon Valley’s innovation momentum with APEC’s multilateral policy coordination. As AI and digital health remain global priorities, this platform continues to inject new momentum into sustainable development across the Asia-Pacific and beyond.

MEBO Group looks forward to witnessing Silicon Valley’s innovation ignite alongside APEC’s collaborative spirit in Gyeongju this autumn, illuminating a new chapter in Asia-Pacific cooperation.
