MEBO Group was Invited to Attend CGI U 2022 Virtual Annual Meeting

  On April 11-13, 2022 (local time), Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) held its 2022 annual meeting online. Board Chair Kevin Xu and Vice Chair Li Li were invited to attend the meeting. As a member of CGI, mentor of CGI Lead, and main member of CGI U Organizing Committee, Kevin Xu this year, collaborated with IBM and other enterprises and organizations, provided supports for the smooth opening of the meeting. At the opening ceremony, CGI U expressed its gratefulness to Kevin Xu for his generous support, and recognized the achievements of “Covid-19 Student Action Fund” jointly launched by Kevin Xu and CGI U. 
 
 
  Featured speakers of the meeting included 42nd President of the United States, Founder and Board Chair of Clinton Foundation President Bill Clinton, Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Vice Chair of Clinton Foundation Chelsea Clinton, First Lady of the United States Dr. Jill Biden, U.S. Surgeon General, Department of Health and Human Services Dr. Vivek H. Murthy, President and CEO, American Association of Community Colleges Dr. Walter G. Bumphus, well-known writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and etc., and focusing on the annual meeting theme “Building Resilience: Strengthening Pathways for Lifelong Learning, Advocacy, and Social Impact”, they expressed their thoughts. 
 
 
  In the conversation with Secretary Hillary Clinton during the opening ceremony, Jill Biden expressed her recognition to the great work of CGI, and was especially excited to learn that CGI U now is partnering with American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) with which she has been engaged for many years, and she used to call AACC American best kept secrets - resources of talents needed by American society. AACC is the virtual host venue of the meeting. 
 
  In the speech, Bill Clinton said that the energy, passion, creative cooperation and action of youths are urgently needed in this era, and called on all students from different schools to collaborate creatively to turn ideas into action, to achieve enormous possibilities and to create a world full of hope.   
 
  This annual meeting has exclusively organized a session for CGI U 2022 students, alumni, and event participants within Hopin, during which students got the opportunity to network with peers and alumni in the following topic areas: education, girls and women, public health, youth empowerment, disabilities, waste management, sustainability, technology, water and sanitation, agriculture and peace and human rights.
 
  Besides, the following topics, such as “climate change and mental wellbeing: our interconnected world”, “vaccine inequality and vaccine hesitancy: addressing the pandemic’s simultaneous crises” and “using social media for social good”, were discussed during the annual meeting to care for the mental health of youth, and to provide advices for students on where to go in terms of addressing the pandemic’s multiple crises, and on how to use social media platforms to effectively tell the stories of their commitments and the communities they serve as our lives move increasingly online. In addition to the rich contents, the annual meeting also offered students opportunities to interact with peers from around the world and to connect directly with CGI U’s network of topic experts. All of this would be beneficial for young people to navigate the complex challenges ahead. 
 
 
  Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) was launched by Bill Clinton in 2007, with the aim of cultivating a new generation of leaders on campuses around the world. Each year CGI U hosts a meeting where students, topic experts and celebrities gather together to develop innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges. As early as in 2016, Kevin Xu, Board Chair of MEBO Group, was invited as a youth mentor to attend CGI U annual meeting held in University of California, Berkeley, and then Kevin Xu attended CGI U annual meeting respectively held in University of Chicago in 2018 and Cornell Tech in 2019 to share his ideas about pressing challenges. Since the outbreak of covid-19 at the end 2019, the annual meeting of CGI U has moved to hold online, but each time Kevin Xu would spare his time to join the meeting to contribute his part for a better world.
