In July 2025, eleven faculty and students from the Rongxiang Xu College of Health and Human Services at California State University, Los Angeles, embarked on an immersive two-week academic and cultural study tour across China. With stops in Yantai, Nanyang, and Beijing, the program deepened international collaboration in medical education, regenerative technology, and cross-cultural understanding, serving as a model under China’s “50,000 American Students to China” initiative.

Yantai: Bridging Academia and Tradition

The tour began at Binzhou Medical University in Yantai, where the group was warmly received. Highlights included a visit to Rongxiang Hall and a floral tribute at the statue of Professor Xu, honoring his legacy in regenerative medicine. Students participated in English-language academic sessions focused on cutting-edge topics like the gut microbiome and mHealth applications, engaging in meaningful exchanges with their Chinese counterparts.

Beyond academics, the delegation immersed themselves in Chinese culture through hands-on activities such as lacquer fan painting, traditional Chinese medicine workshops, Hanfu attire experiences, and folk art like lion dancing and lantern-making. Visits to Yantai Hill, Yangma Island, and the Changyu Wine Museum further enriched their cultural appreciation.

Nanyang: Advancing Regenerative Medical Knowledge

In Nanyang, students attended in-depth lectures by senior physicians at Nanyang Hospital, learning about MEBO Group’s regenerative medicine technology in burn and wound care. They then joined immersive clinical rounds in burn and wound departments, shadowing nurses and observing treatment protocols.

Beijing: From Heritage to High-Tech Innovation

The final leg brought the group to Beijing, where they visited Tsinghua University and the Tsinghua History Museum, experiencing the prestige and legacy of one of China’s top academic institutions. They also toured cultural landmarks including the Forbidden City and Great Wall.

A highlight was their visit to MEBO Group headquarters, where students learned about the company’s pioneering role in global regenerative medicine. MEBO’s commitment to Professor Xu’s legacy and its role in advancing medical education left a lasting impression.

This transformative tour seamlessly integrated science, culture, and global friendship—an embodiment of MEBO Group’s vision and Rongxiang Xu College’s mission to nurture future leaders in health and human services through global engagement.
